An Experience Indeed

The Summer Science Program so far has been the longest week of my life, not because I experience time differently here, but because I have literally been conscious in my highly constant highly caffeinated state for more hours in a singular week than I have in my entire life. Albeit restless, it has been the one of the singular most productive and enjoyable weeks for me. The incredible classes taught by the talented professors and the assistance from the teachers’ assistants have allowed me to satisfy my inherent cravings for learning. The unique requirements of the orbital determination code force individuals to study multiple academic disciplines, which ultimately strongly impacted my overall knowledge base.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the people are what make this experience unique. The collection of astute individuals results in vibrant conversation, and the collaborative nature of this program reinforces the strong social connections between participants. It is actually mind-blowing how well you can get to know someone simply by being in the same space working on psets until 1:00am most mornings of the week. Just a week ago I met this group of unfamiliar individuals for the first time. Today I was carrying one of my friends bridal-style. That goes to show the extreme quickness that relates to the synthetization of strong friendships and resultantly splendid memories.
