It’s been two weeks at ssp, and everything’s been so great. I like my life here, where everyday is fulfilling. It’s such a pleasure talking to and working with other participants, who are all amazing, nice and smart. In the first week, I felt there’s a lot for each day, but for the second week, I found time flew by so fast(already wish we could stay longer). I’m gonna enjoy my everyday as much as possible:D
Some reflection of my day:
Most of the work today was at the lab. We were having fun with standard curves and activity assays. In other words, for most of the time, we were setting up wells on the plate and preparing different concentrations of our enzymes and pNPs. We made a slight slip with the calculation(calculating was fun though), but we corrected it at last, and since the results were excellent, overall it was perfect. (btw, I luv my ‘superior group’.)
After noon, we went on a backstage tour of the music concert here. It was a cooler adventure than I had expected. There’s such a large space backstage, where it covers places making scenes, props, costumes and everything. I truly learnt a lot about how backstage works. My favorite part was when we were on a platform upstairs. From there we could see everything overhead behind the stage, where cables could move up and down to transport equipment and devices. It was just so beautiful how the mechanics stuff operated.
Aside from work and exploration, let’s talk about food. We have a lot of choices at IMU for lunch, including salad, pizzas, sandwiches, Asian food, desserts, Starbucks and everything. I like the cupcakes there so much that they’ve already become a necessity of my life. At dinner place, it’s a buffet so we also have a range of choices. I enjoy my dinner with(or, force myself to get) salad every evening to stay healthy. The Asian food was really great today, and I had my first ice cream!(what, I got my first ice-cream on the third week? Yeah that’s true)
Overall, there’s just so much happening every day, and I’m looking forward to visiting downtown Bloomington again this weekend, by saying which, I mean, I miss boba tea lol.
Hi, I’m Celinda. I’m a rising senior from Shanghai, China. I like drawing in my free time, and I enjoy playing oboe. ^^
