Day 11 Blog–SSP Birthday

SSP Birthday 🥳 Hey guys, I’m Katherine and I’m a participant in Purdue Biochem I! Today is June 20th, which happens to be my birthday so come with me to a day in my life at SSP (🎂 Edition)!

I started the morning with waking up at 6:50 and falling back asleep until I realized I actually had to get up. I got ready and headed to the Armory for enzyme catalysis and enzyme kinetics lectures. We ran very behind as Dr. Das loves to explain all things enzymes. Next was the lab where we imaged our purified protein gels. Someone (hint hint wink wink) needed some help picking up his gels.

Anyways, I went to lunch at the PMU and got a poke bowl. Someone else (hint hint wink wink) needed a lot of help learning to use chopsticks.. After lunch, we went back to lecture to learn more about enzyme assays. Back to the lab again — we didn’t have to make any solutions because the amazing PurI TAs made them for us so we just had to download imaging software. We then had a guest speaker: Dr. Megan Filban who talked about viruses, Ferrari’s, and submarines. I’m so grateful for everyone in PurI who made my birthday so special (even after six happy birthday songs). ♥️
