Day 26 @ SSP Purdue – A Not-So-Normal Day in the Life at SSP

Creator: Saketh D.

It’s been 4 and a half weeks into SSP, so most of us have our routines set. For example, my roommate Gaston’s morning routine goes a little something like this:

  1. He wakes up to my alarm, and turns it off for me because I’m still sleeping
  2. He turns off my second alarm precisely 8 minutes later, which I have also fully slept through
  3. He gets ready for ten minutes, and comes back to the room at 7:20 to see me, once again, fast asleep
  4. He (gently!) forces me awake
  5. I then gracefully wake up with perfect hair, fully alert and ready to start learning! Rise and grind.

But I knew today would be different when I woke up completely confused at 7:30 and looked around slowly to see Gaston fully knocked out. Who let him cook?

This was not good. Well, turns out this Friday, everyone had a pretty rough morning.

Luckily for us, we all made it to the lab just on time and avoided getting our names on the infamous spreadsheet which Paige assures us is real.

Everyone was awake and ready to work!

We proceeded to get productive and write a lot. Good work team! Group 4 is the best group!

After working for a solid 5 minutes, we decided it was time to hop on the ol’ Geometry Dash.

Selin looks so happy! (Nobody tell her this is literally level 2).

Anyways, after that we had a fascinating guest lecture from Maia Weinstock, who spoke about her career and her numerous impressive accomplishments, including promoting diversity in STEM and becoming the deputy editor of MIT news. It was so enlightening to hear new perspectives and topics about more than research.

(Austin looks so happy!)

The guest speaker introduction team did a great job, especially Nirbaan “Nurbeezy” “Nirbeta” Maken (Nurby for short).

After that, we worked some more before eating a delectable, exquisite, four-course meal from the world-renowned Wiley dining hall (pictures omitted because you would get too jealous. It’s for your own good, really).

As we waited for our (very well planned) dinner game, some of us once again got on Geometry Dash. Personally, I think they are getting addicted. Couldn’t be me.

Anyways, that’s it for me. Yet another successful day at SSP for the books!
