Dear Diary,
The time is 8:14 AM. I just woke up. Odd. My alarm usually wakes me up at 7. Lecture started 15 minutes ago, and I am currently changing and rushing out the door, trying to minimize my bedhead and get to lecture as soon as possible.

Dear Diary,
The time is 8:22 AM. Weirdly enough, as I was walking out the door of Honors North, I saw Gaston rushing to get to lecture as well. We both somehow slept through our alarms. I find it odd, however, that neither of our roommates thought to wake us up… As Gaston and I sprinted towards Lawson, Gaston stopped and looked around with a confused gaze. He asked me where everybody was, and then I realized. There was nobody in the street. It was dead silent, and you could hear a pin drop from half a mile away. We reached Lawson B155 and realized that the rest of SSP wasn’t there. We panicked, wondering if we were supposed to be somewhere else. We are going to go and search. I’ll update when we find them.

Dear Diary,
The time is 10:55 AM. We still haven’t found them. We are scared, Gaston has broken down sobbing multiple times out of fear. The only place we haven’t yet checked is CHAS, as the doors are locked. We have tried calling our friends, calling the police, calling anyone, but our cell phones don’t seem to be working. Gaston and I have been hypothesizing, and we have decided that our best course of action is to try and break through one of the windows and climb in. We figure CHAS is our only lead as to where everyone could have gone. I think that if we find a big enough rock, we can break through one of the windows. I pray that we find answers inside.

Dear Diary,
The time is 11:19 AM. I am so confused. Believe it or not, there is not an overabundance of window-breaking rocks on this campus. Gaston and I split up to cover more ground, and I heard him calling my name from a construction site on the other side of the building. There was a relatively large rock, and we took turns carrying it to the front window that we had decided to break. Just as we were about to heave it into the window, I heard a light tapping sound, and I started, realizing this was the first sound we’d heard in ages. In the second floor window I saw Sophia, waving frantically at us. She put a finger up to her lips, telling us to be quiet, and then mouthed “five minutes”. She then disappeared. After a moment of deliberation, we decided that she meant that she would come get us in five minutes, and we are now waiting.

Dear Diary,
The time is 12:11 PM. I am starving, but honestly the past hour has been so confusing and terrifying that I barely feel it. Sophia came down and let us into CHAS after about 12 minutes, and didn’t say a word, leading us back to the second floor through the stairs. When we got there, she peeked out behind the wall before leading us to the TA lounge and locking the door behind us. There, we found Grant, Aberam, Evelyn, Saketh, and Angela. They all looked scared and filled us in on what had happened. When the rest of SSP had arrived at lecture, Dr. Das had told them that there was a change of plans, and they were all going to the lab. When they got to the lab, Dr. Das was acting odd, and sat them down in the lab and pulled out his computer to explain lab 28. However, he accidentally forgot that he had his “Master Plan” document open, and when he shared his screen everybody read what had happened. According to Saketh, the professors and TA’s had been working on a new inhibitor in the lab the night before, but the inhibitor had somehow mutated drastically into a zombie virus. While the TA’s were immediately turned into mindless stumbling creatures hellbent on brain eating, Dr. Das and Dr. M’s brains were far too powerful to be succumbed. Instead, they remained in control of their mind, but were turned irreversibly evil, with their own immensely powerful craving for the brains of SSP. One look at Dr. Das proved that this was indeed correct. The rest of the participants immediately scattered, and Ephraim phoned the police to tell them what was going on (just before Dr. M’s ultra powerful communication blocker went online). Unfortunately, as they were running, Dr. Das lunged at Abby and sunk his teeth into her arm, and before their very eyes, Abby was transformed into another mindless zombie. I am terrified. I don’t know what to do. I do know that the government evacuated everybody else in the town, but did not evacuate me and Gaston because they were too scared to enter the SSP corridor. The only way out is to get to the fourth floor, where Dr. M and Dr. Das are, and destroy the communication blocker device.

Dear Diary,
The time is 1:17 PM. So much has happened. Just as I finished writing the previous entry, I looked up to see Paige staring through the door at us. We made eye contact, and she immediately thrust her way through the locked door, exhibiting some sort of superhuman strength. Before my very eyes, I watched as Paige ran at Saketh, who was quivering in fear with his left arm raised to shield himself, and she proceeded to rip off his head with little effort and began chomping on his brains. It was the most gruesome thing I’d ever seen up until about 45 seconds later, when she rushed towards Aberam, and tore off both of his legs as he was crawling away from her. He suffered a similar fate to Saketh… The rest of us ran away, and I’ve been separated. I heard screaming coming from the third floor, and I’m going to go up there and investigate.

Dear Diary,
The time is 2:34 PM. Once the screaming ended, I went up the stairs to check it out. I saw smeared blood in the corridor of the third floor. I turned right, down the long hallway, following the long trail of blood. I heard a faint gurgling sound, some gnawing, and then a CRACK. Must’ve been a bone. I turned and bravely followed the noise, taking a P20 pipette as my weapon. As the sounds get louder, long luscious curly hair appears in my peripheral vision. Hugo. I watched in horror as Hugo devoured Gaston, their lips and mouth smeared with blood and brain. My good friend, the person I’d gone searching with, dead. Then, before my very eyes, I watched as what seemed like a third of SSP jumped out from behind the corner, armed with glass beakers and other assorted lab equipment. They’d obviously been driven crazy with fear, and chosen to team up and attack. It even seemed like they were winning, as Hugo was driven back, confused and disoriented. But then, disaster struck… Martin barrelled around the corner with the now zombified Abby in tow, and they jumped upon the attackers. I watched as they mutilated the fearful participants, and as the battle raged, an obvious victor arose. It was too much to watch. I am hiding in a crevice under the stairs, and the screams have finally stopped. I think they left. I am attempting to muster up the courage to go see what has happened.

Dear Diary,
The time is 4:12 PM. I finally went upstairs, to find nearly half of SSP dead. It was terrifying, there was blood and limbs and heads strewn around everywhere. I don’t even know who’s left, the majority of the bodies here are unidentifiable. I don’t know what to do, and I figure my only option is stealth, as violence obviously didn’t work. I’ve been paralyzed with fear, sitting in the hallway for the last hour or so, and I have finally gotten the courage to go up one more floor. There is no doubt that this will end with my own death, but I tried to go downstairs and found Paige and Austin roaming the first floor. There is no escape. I can only go up, and it is only a matter of time until one of them finds me.

Dear Diary,
The time is 4:44 PM. I found Selin!! As I was walking up the stairs, I stumbled into her climbing up from the second floor, obviously having made the same decision as me. We had a close call when we saw an obviously zombified Andrew roaming the stairs, but he didn’t see us and we hid until he passed. About to go upstairs… Hopefully this goes well.

Dear Diary,
The time is 8:19 PM. I am not Kieran. My name is Selin Adigozel, and Kieran is dead. I found this diary on his body, and feel obligated to update it one final time. This is how it went down. We went upstairs to find the rest of SSP zombified or dead. They seemed to be protecting something, a large metal beeping structure in the middle of the hallway. It was obvious we were the only ones left. Dr. M immediately noticed us and lunged at us, an evil glint in her normally kind eyes. We split up, Kieran running towards the massive device in the middle. It was obvious that he was planning on sacrificing himself to destroy the device, whatever it was. I watched as this extremely nimble, athletic, agile superhero spun through the mob of zombies, breaking ankles left and right. He reached the device and smacked the big red button labeled self destruct (hidden about as well as the death star’s exhaust pipe). Before my very eyes, he blew up the machine, and threw himself clear of the blast. Many of the zombies were incinerated in the blast, but Dr. Das had the last laugh… he grabbed Kieran and quickly decapitated him. I hid in horror, and realized that my phone was buzzing. This was when I realized that my phone was working again. Kieran, who heroically sacrificed himself to destroy the machine, allowed me to finally contact the police and tell them where we were hidden and call for help. The military quickly swooped in and saved the day, and I ran over to Kieran’s body and grabbed this diary before they took away his body. I am now the only remaining living member of SSP Biochem Purdue.
Unfortunate.
