There’s one word that comes to my mind when I think of SSP: busy. For the past three weeks, we’ve had countless labs and class activities, as well a couple of problem sets sprinkled in here and there. This past week has been especially eventful, with the introduction of our research paper being due and Open House rolling in from around the corner. It seemed like there was so much to do and not enough Lindseys to do it… I almost wished that our program was based on self-cloning rather than designing a fungal inhibitor (just kidding, I love our research).
Yet, today was a very un-busy day. I don’t know if it was because everything was so bustling the days before, but the atmosphere just felt much calmer. I’m not going to lie— it felt a bit strange and I kept searching my brain for assignments and work that I potentially forgot about. (fyi, there was indeed something that I forgot about… this blog post lol)
Anyways, I still had a very chill and fun day today. In the morning, I slept in to catch up on some very much needed sleep. Later in the afternoon, I stopped by the Eskenazi Museum of Art with some friends, which I thought was really interesting because they had a few pieces of artwork from pretty well-known artists. Today was also an extended perimeter day, so we got lunch at a Korean restaurant and stopped by CVS to stock up on our dorm essentials, aka snacks. My friends and I decided to risk it all and buy ice cream, so we power walked under the scorching sun to make it back before it melted. We succeeded 🙂
I can already tell that this coming week is going to be very busy again, but busy-ness is what makes up the true SSP experience. I’m excited to be going back to the lab tomorrow to reattempt my group’s assays for the fourth (?) time and getting to meet the Purdue SSPers at Turkey Run on Wednesday. Until then, I’ll be enjoying the rest of my day that was like the eye of a storm.
