Introduction
As SSP was coming to an end, SSPers were sad and happy at the same time. Today, we planned to enjoy ourselves fully during the extended perimeter and get a good night’s sleep for tomorrow’s final paper revision.
Procedure
Lab Clean Up
Lab checklist was followed along with a clean up playlist in the background. Students signed signatures on each others’ conical tubes and freezer boxes to keep as souvenirs (1 hr).
Epidemiology Worksheet, Workshop, Quiz
Clinical epidemiology history and introduction videos were watched to answer worksheet and quiz (1 hr 30 min).
Lunch
Lunch was eaten at IMU for 1 hr.
Epidemiology
Dr. Jill gave an informative lecture (3 hr 30 min) on clinical epidemiology trials and experiments for developing vaccines.
Extended Perimeter
Siam House Thai Cuisine for dinner and Cafe Bali for deserts (3 hr).
Results
Lab Clean Up
Lab workspaces were all cleaned up, except for the sharpies that were exchanged from place to place to sign the tubes and freezer boxes. I got a fully signed conical tube, a conical tube full with the Cdc14 enzyme, and a safety goggles that I would keep forever. I’m going to miss the lab and I forgot to take group pictures in the lab (Noooo)!
Figure 1. Cdc14 aliquots (denatured souvenirs) stored in a 50 mL conical tube and incubated at pants temperature.
Figure 2. Lab for the last time, SSPers exchanging signatures.
Epidemiology Worksheet, Workshop, Quiz
Finished in time as a group. It was helpful to work together. These videos and learning helped prepare for the related lecture in the afternoon.
Lunch
6 swipes were used during lunch. I double swiped for Sophie, Hanser, and myself for Indian food, sushi, chicken tenders and mac cheese. It was satisfying (probably also because I skipped my breakfast and was starving)! And I still had 18-6=12 total swipes left for the next 2 days. If I have swipes left in the end, I would grab my Dad to have lunch and donuts when he comes to pick me up (we could take food to the airport, I’m going to miss the Indian food).
Figure 3. Wonderful lunch from last friday, similar to today’s lunch. But! They only served one quarter of the size today which was NOT enough and very sad!
Epidemiology

Figure 5. SSPers resting after the lecture, but some accident happened…
Extended Perimeter
Figure 6. Satisfying Thai food and pineapple fried rice and sweet Thai ice tea! The price was definitely worth it.
Figure 7. Getting crepe cakes and milk tea for deserts. Jiya claimed that she was so happy and would stay happy even if she died today.
Everything was great and planned, until…all the phones alerted and rang. It was a weather disaster alert.
Figure 8. Tornado strikes again! SSPers crowding in the basement.
Figure 9. Sophie felt so helpless and frustrated about her clotting hair.
Discussion
We made so much progress and shared so many memories together. Our very next step is to finalize our research paper tomorrow, putting an end to this progressive journey. SSP has been an enchanting and unforgettable adventure, and the bonds formed among us will persist long after the program’s conclusion.
