Hey everyone! My name is Arowyn. I’m from Maryville, Tennessee, and I like to write music and build lego sets. I’ll be your DJ for today! This mixtape describes my time so far at SSP:
“Geronimo” by Sheppard
I have made so many new friends at SSP over the past two weeks. Everyone is so cool, and we have all woven into a nerdy scientist family that takes leaps together, saying “Geronimo” every step of the way.
“We Are Young” by Fun.
Today, we had extended boundaries to go out and explore Bloomington! We visited downtown and enjoyed walking around and hanging out at local shops like Greetings and Pitaya. Despite certain pleas for pho, the sweltering heat convinced us to get boba and some of the best Thai food I’ve had in my life instead. We got to take a break from genomics, set the world on fire, and be young.
“Marche Funebre (Funeral March)”- Chopin
My group’s experiment, sadly, has come to an end. We woke up on the morning of the 24th to find three vials contaminated. As Amarri, Ian, and I saluted our chemostat before dismantling it, we remembered all the fun experiences we’ve had setting up, dismantling, autoclaving, and reassembling our chemostat. We are so proud of the experiment our chemostat has gotten us through and are happy to say that we took samples of our vials for sequencing next week!
As we enter Week 3 of SSP, I anticipate bioinformatics lessons, late night study sessions, and many cups of coffee in our futures! Can’t wait to see what song comes next!
