Meet the NMSU 1 Astro TAs!

Hello participants! We’re so excited to welcome you to SSP 2024 at New Mexico State University. The faculty has been working hard to prepare for your arrival and we can’t wait to meet you all! Soon, this blog will be filled with tales of your own new experiences and celestial adventures, but for now, here’s a little bit about us!

Kathryn (she/her)

TA Kathryn was born and raised in San Diego, CA and attended SSP at NMT in 2016. After SSP, she majored in general engineering and enjoyed (and still enjoys) finding intersections between art and STEM. She returned to TA the past two summers and is excited to be back! She also loves swing dancing, arts and crafts, 3D printing, BTD6, finding koroks, Heartstopper, the Rigel Black Chronicles, and indoor rock climbing.

Michelle (she/her)

TA Michelle is from the San Francisco Bay Area and participated in SSP at NMT in 2019 (and, understandably, hasn’t been back to NM until now). She studied CS in college and is excited to reconnect with her physics roots this summer. She enjoys cross-stitching & modular origami, going to Costco, making seamless Instagram carousels, bench-warming in Hollow Knight, and not drowning, among many other things.

Staś (he/him)

TA Staś is from New Jersey and participated in SSP at “CUB” online in 2020 and is excited for an in-person experience, even if it is from the other side! He studied physics in college and enjoys math, making GPU shaders, and getting stuck on Wikipedia. He also thinks BTD5 is better than BTD6.

Lucien (he/him)

TA Lucien is from Los Angeles and was a participant of the 2019 SSP in Biochemistry at Purdue University. After finding that Biology and Chemistry are not suitable, he did a major in Physics at Harvey Mudd College. He practices Battodo, a style of Japanese swordmanship, and does calisthenics. He also likes casual mountain climbing with Fujisan and Mt. Tsukuba as favorite mountains.
