Hi, I’m Eric from Houston, TX! Today was the first “free day” of SSP. I started off the day with a walk to the library, praying that the hours posted online were wrong. Sadly, they were correct and the library was indeed closed. I then went to play Ultimate with the other Astro II kids, but we (as expected) got tired after about 15 minutes of running and called it quits so we could go to brunch.
After brunch we met in the lounge in Pinon, where we encountered Genomics kids who had the foresight to bring a Nintendo Switch for Smash Bros. We were hoping to go to Target, but as it turns out, the buses don’t run on Sundays so we’ll have to go to the mall on Wednesday (which is better, I think!). This was followed by an hour of playing cards in Corbett, where I won a game of 24 before heading over to Dominici for a swing dancing lesson from TA Laurissa’s sister. It was not as awkward as I expected, which was nice! I also got a video of Laurissa getting a piggyback ride from her sister.
After dinner, we watched the movie “Arrival”, which had a premise that was pretty interesting but was ultimately anti-climatic. I’m hoping for a sequel someday to tie up loose ends. We finished the day with some Python PSetting and preparing for our TMO observation that night at 11 (which failed due to the weather).
