OMG PCR?!?!…and BLUE JELLO!!

Today’s main event was PCR! According to today’s lecture, PCR stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction and it basically amplifies the DNA. Oh, and the guy who created PCR was apparently on LSD when he thought of the idea. Interesting guy…

Okay so today everyone got to do their own individual little tube things, meaning we got to put all the PCR ingredients in by ourselves. It was pretty fun even though my hand was shaking the whole time because I do not have surgeon hands. Look below for an example (btw the picture is not me doing it so the hands are more stable).

After we were finished with putting in stuff into our little cutie tubes, we gave them to Dr. M who put them into the PCR machine!! Look below for a picture. :)))

Moving on…

We finally started our assigned seatings during dinner! I sat at the Dr. M table with Andrew, Ely, Jasper, and Ana. The conversations were interesting and the mushrooms and blue jello today were really good :D.

 I ❤ jello.

We continued our Sequence Comparison lecture with Dr. G after dinner. Did you know that it’s really hard to find a needle in a haystack? No? Yeah, same.

Anyway, I’ve just realized that I’m writing the blog for tomorrow too…so I’ll see you on the next post!

About Me ~

Hi! My name is Joy and I am a rising senior from Louisiana. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, crocheting, reading comics, and eating..oh and I guess Pokemon Go…I’m not really into it though….maybe. At SSP, I’ve learned that hummus is actually pretty good and that working in teams isn’t as bad as I thought. My team is so great :DD ❤❤. Yay Evil BMO!!
