All the blog posts so far have been outstanding. They’re perfectly relatable and truly capture the SSP experience. It reminds me we’re all struggling with the same problems and we’re all little astro nerds at heart. But rather than try my hand at speaking about the Psets and the friendships we make along the way, I thought I would write a little song for SSP. Please bear in mind that “write” is a generous word. I do not have a musical bone in my body and I completely ripped off “Hey There Delilah”. Enjoy!
Hey there, SSP / What’s it like in all our hearts? / I’m a learning block away / But that PSET sure is smart / Yes, it is / Biochem can’t shine as bright as you / I swear, it’s true
Hey there, SSP / Don’t you worry about the distance / Dr. Domingue knows what he’s doing / Give that lecture another listen / Don’t close your eyes / MultiVariable Calculus / It’s by your side
Dr Ice is in the house / Dr Kim and Dominick / Dr Domingue and Andrei / Molly and Afura oh /what I learn I from them
Hey there, SSP / I know Psets are gettin’ hard / But just believe me please / Someday we’ll be the best astronomers / We’ll have it good / We’ll have the data we knew we would / My word is good / Hey there, SSP / I’ve got so much left to study / If every simple code I wrote to you / Would freaking computate / I’d press submit / Even more confetti I would see / I’d see it all
Dr Ice is in the house / Dr Kim and Dominick / Dr Domingue and Andrei/ Molly and Afura oh
5 and a half weeks are far too short / But we’ve got zoom and discord calls / I’d walk to you if I had no other way / SSP, I can promise you / That by the time we get through / The world will never ever be the same / And you’re to blame / Hey there, SSP / You be good, and don’t you miss me / I can be a TA in a few / I’ll be calculating orbits like I do / You’ll know it’s all because of you / We can do whatever we want to / Hey there, SSP, here’s to you / This ones for you / Dr Ice is in the house / Dr Kim and Dominick / Dr Domingue and Andrei / Molly and Afura oh / what I learn I from them
