SWOSU Day 1: Getting Started

The SWOSU faculty has been busy this week preparing for arrival day, but we are so excited to meet everyone! This blog will be the place for participants to document how the day is going and how they are feeling about SSP. Families are welcome to check the blog every day to see what science and fun our participants have been up to. The blog can also be a way for participants to look back at their time at SSP long after they have graduated. In the spirit of starting a brand new program, we decided to ask the participants what they were most excited for and nervous about coming into SSP. Here are some of their responses:

Ruoyi: “I am most excited for making new friends and exploring a new place far from home. I am most nervous about whether I can thrive under the busy schedule and about not being able to frequently eat Asian cuisine like I am used to.”

Wei: “I’m most excited about all the new experiences I will go through this summer with this group of wonderful people!! I’m nervous about whether or not I’ll be a burden to some of my lab partners since I haven’t touched chemistry in a while and scared that I might fall behind.”

Charles: “Def excited abt meeting ppl who share my interests and getting to experience the research process+learn new things. Nervous abt being away”

Al: “I’m excited to make new friends and do science! I’m nervous about whether or not my packed stuffs are best choice yet…”

Jaime: “I’m really excited to gain more lab experience and to become familiar with professional practices! I’m nervous that I won’t pack enough”

Maia: “I am most excited for making memories doing what I am passionate about with new people! I am most nervous about forgetting something important.”

Let’s have an amazing summer!
