Hi everyone!
I’m Joyan and I’m from Perth, Western Australia. Welcome to the second Saturday of Synthetic Chemistry at SWOSU
The day started off quite abruptly. My roommate and I may have woken up a little too late… but we quickly rushed to the CPP (Chemistry, Physics and Pharmacy) and went straight into lab. Most of us went to the never ending process of cleaning while the Q12N4 people continued with their work. By the end of the session, we had our first ligand created (Go Q12 people)!
After that we had a bit of time before lunch, so we hung around, played with some bubble wrap (Thanks Fortune), and some teams began their safety videos (enjoy them 2025 synthchem participants)
Lunch was amazing as we were all starving for some Mexican food. Then we started our weekend off!
As I’m writing this, Maia (my roommate) and I were cleaning and just found a hidden drawer under the bed 🫢
We spent the rest of our free afternoon playing a multitude of card games.
First off we started by playing a few rounds of Love Letters (Isabelle’s game), and then we played Bang! with me as the sheriff winning against Mario, who was the renegade. There were also a few rounds of exploding kittens going on.
Then we learnt a very intense and speedy game Nertz (taught by Maia) which is a mix of speed and solitaire with multiple decks of card, which I definitely recommend!
Dinner was a very delicious selection of dominoes pizzas. And then it was back to the games!
After dinner we learnt Mahjong 🀄️, which we found in a cupboard of games.
Just as I’m writing this, Jaime and I (who were teaming together) won the round 🥇
And now we’re back off to play some Nertz which is going to the lead to a lot of screaming and adrenaline, ending off our second Saturday of SSP.
