SWOSU Day 3: Building (Cross) Bridges

SSP is now in full swing! The participants have begun their first full days packed with lab and lecture. Monday began with Dr Hubin introducing the synthetic chemistry project. He explained the background and rationale behind the project as well as important safety information. In the afternoon, the participants began their first reaction in the lab. They created cross bridges that would connect two of the nitrogen atoms in their macrocycles.

On Tuesday, lab was in the morning, and lecture was in the afternoon. In lab, everyone worked up their products from the previous day of lab and took mass spectra that will help confirm that the product is correct.

Al has his mass spec sample ready!
Ruoyi, Isabelle, and Jenny prepare their samples

So far everyone has done a great job in lab!
