Today is Sunday. Sundays are actually my favorite day of the week. They’ve always
been a day for me to just recharge and finish up things from the previous week. Sundays have
been extra special to me at SSP because it’s the one day that I can anticipate. I did not
anticipate having to write the blog today, though. I’m not a writer, so don’t expect this blog to be
good. 🙂
This morning, I woke up around 8:30. I went back to sleep briefly, but I woke up again at
9:00. I really wanted to sleep in today because I had stayed up until 1:30 am the night before.
So, I set my alarm for 9:15. Unfortunately, since I always wake up early, I physically could not
sleep in. I got ready and had way too much sugar for breakfast. Then, I attended a really cool
Q&A session with Wefwafwa Andrew, who runs a health organization in Uganda. Shout out to
him for being awesome and to Rex for organizing that! It was really interesting and inspiring.
After that, I went on a stroll for about an hour. The campus is incredibly beautiful, so I enjoying
walking around every day. I then went to the Goodbody basement to work on a draft of our final
paper. It wasn’t easy lol, but I got a good amount of work done.
In the afternoon, I went to Target with Gracy. I needed tape because my bag has a hole
in it. Although I don’t know how to sew, I think I’m really good at taping. At Target, I expertly
chose a top tier roll of tape for me to use later. I hadn’t eaten lunch at that point, so I got some
pizza at the food court. When I was taking my order, I asked about the price of something. The
lady told me the price without tax. I misheard her and thought she said “packs,” and I assumed it
was pizza place slang. I asked her what it meant, and she explained the concept of tax to me for
about a minute before I realized she had said tax. I’m never showing my face at that pizza place
again. Anyway, after I ate the pizza (it was okay), I went back to campus to work. I was working
in the Memorial Hall basement on the couch because it was comfortable. It was so comfortable
that it made me sleepy, so I had to go to Starbucks to get some coffee. I don’t know if it helped,
but it intensified my headache.
Later in the afternoon, I went out with Mona for extended perimeter for like an hour and a
half. This time was actually the highlight of my day. Our only plan was to go to the boba place.
Mona wanted boba, and I really wanted the tiramisu there. Last week, we went to the boba
place, and they didn’t have any. I hoped this time would be different. It wasn’t. Turns out the
place next door took their fridge (how did that happen???), so they don’t sell tiramisu anymore.
Mona got her boba, but she was determined to get me some pastry. We went to Insomnia
Cookies, which I’ve heard a bit about. I think it’s overhyped. The cookie was a little less than
okay. But we discovered a really cool part of the shopping area, and we decided to explore
some more. We passed by an Indian grocery store and restaurant. When we went in, the guy
said it wasn’t a restaurant. But there was literally a menu outside the building and a sign that
said restaurant, so we were confused. We walked further down the street and discovered an
office building for a place called Granite. We didn’t know what the company did because its logo
was confusing.
The coolest place we stopped by was a fine arts place. We saw a lot of cool paintings,
glass work, and other stuff. We tried to interpret some of the art, which was really fun. We were
stuck on the meaning of one piece, so we called the guy who works there. We learned more
about the piece as well as the guy’s life and family. It was a really interesting conversation, but it
ended really abruptly. Anyway, shortly after we returned to campus, Mona and I went to Forest
for dinner. It wasn’t crowded, which was nice. We had a good conversation and dinner, and
then, we went back to the dorm. Now I’m finishing up this blog. It’s 8 pm, so there’ll be like three
hours of my day not included. I don’t think you’re missing out, though. I’ll probably just finish my
draft. Anyway, thanks for reading! 🙂
