Typical Guest Lecture Day

On a normal day at SSP, I would wake up at 7:00 and leave at 7:30 to go to breakfast before class. However, because my friends and I are lazy bums (sometimes) and we would have had to take a 7-minute detour because of construction, we decided to skip today.

After sleeping in for another hour (Cailyn made it to class with 30 seconds to spare), we went to our morning lecture on catalysis reactions and some organic chemistry. A Class Activity #10 later, it was time to go to the lab. Yesterday, my group ran our SDS-PAGE gel before leaving but apparently we ducked up somewhere because our last three columns were blank. After re-setting up the gel and our samples, we ran it again and hopefully we didn’t mess up this time.

At 1:00, I went to get lunch, which was questionable midwestern ramen with 3 packets of soy sauce in it. Cailyn and I then proceeded to waste a meal swipe on 2 donuts and an apple juice.

At 3:00 PM, we had a guest lecture by Dr. Bochman, who is a professor at IU and the director of graduate studies for the biochemistry graduate program. He really likes yeast and beer. His lecture really was interesting, but I was in a food coma from lunch and donuts so I almost fell asleep a couple of times.

Even though dinner is all you can eat, my friends and I usually make ramen before dinner and then proceed to just eat ice cream(s) at the dining hall. Because the guest lecture ran late today, we didn’t have time to burn down the kitchen, but we ate freeze pops and fruit snacks instead!

8:00-9:55PM: worktime on class activity 10 that is basically pset 4, and research objective 4!

I forgot that I was in charge of the blog until this point, so I started working on this!! Halfway through, Cailyn started singing Karma by Jojo Siwa really loudly and then was politely told to shut up by one of our TAs. We then went to the activity room to hear Brenda the master pianist at work (she says she’s not good but she’s literally a genius). While Brenda practiced, I attempted to teach Cailyn how to dance to ABCD by Nayeon (very entertaining).

After laptop turn in at 9:55, we rotted in the common area and ate some more freeze pops until curfew at 11:00. (woohoo!)
