UNC Astro Blog Post Day 24

The day started off like any other; I woke up at 8:40-ish and quickly cleaned myself up and headed over to Phillips Hall for our morning lecture at 9:00. Since the professors finished teaching all of the lecture material required to complete our research, our morning lecture topic was one that we as a whole decided on: cosmology. Although we only learned about the basics of it, it was still very enriching to get our feet wet on such a curiosity-provoking subject.

For lunch, some friends and I went out to get some fried chicken at the Bojangles on campus—a break from the usual cafeteria food. Before heading back to the lecture room, we took some time to chill (rot on our phones) in the lounge. Our second lecture was similar to the morning one in the sense that we learned about something of our choice; this time it happened to be stellar evolution. Unfortunately, it was cut a couple of hours short as we had to do “authentic” work in the computer labs for a “candid” photographer. Upon being let go for our free time before dinner, the drowsiness started to set in. Typically, some friends and I would go outside to play some type of sport, but this time we enjoyed a quick nap before heading out to a pretty normal dinner. Thankfully, I’m all caught up on the programming and necessary assignments, so I am spending part of the 5 hours we have in the computer labs to recap the day. Looking ahead, tomorrow’s field trip to a baseball game and fireworks for the 4th of July should be a blast.
