Hi blog-readers, I’m Vikram but you can call me Vik.
Here at GTWN Genomics we’ve reached our second Saturday which means — drumroll —
EXTENDED BOUNDARIES!!
It seems like not a big deal but after a week on the admittedly gorgeous buildings here at Georgetown, all of us are aching to go to restaurants, go shopping and to go beyond the otherwise forbidden gates of campus.
^^The aforementioned campus
^^The elevator max capacity is just a suggestion tbh
After learning about how to measure the success of our transformation of some V. natriegens using a gene for antibiotic resistance, we applied the skills in the lab to count the colony forming units or CFU on a plate coated with the antibiotic spectinomycin. That was our morning and then it was off… campus.
We hopped around a few places getting boba at GongCha to beat the DC heat.
^^The District Street art is just better tbh
Getting a quick falafel bowl from Falafel Inc. before visiting the Michelin-recommended, Belgian traditional Sovereign. The Belgian waffles and not-French fries were in fact Michelin-worthy.
After returning from our time beyond the gates out in the District, we found ourselves desperately searching for laundry machines in a room somehow more humid than the District in the Summer.
Ending off the night, we had a study session filled with NCBI searches, media-swaps, and of course, late-night Maggi.
